2017 Club Championship
Wildcard Calculator This is designed to help you to decide if one of your results from a race or Parkrun, in 2017, would improve your standing if used as your wildcard.
You will need to do six races this year in order to qualify for the club championships and at least one of these must be a summer league race (HDSRL). There are 4 HDSRL races to choose from. The handicap race will not count.
- One of your six races can be a wildcard of your own choice but you will need to give me the race name, date, the winner’s time in your gender and your time for it to be included.
- The age groups will remain the same for each gender as last year i.e. Women’s under 35, 35-44, 45-54 and 55+, and Men’s under 40, 40-49, 50-59 and 60+. Your age is that on the 1st January each year. This is positive for some people and not so for others but we have to set the cut off point somewhere.
- There is an age grading factor applied for each year within each age group. This compares your time with your gender winner’s time at any particular race and adjusts it for your age. The points allocated are a percentage of how well you did compared to the gender winner. As all of the competitors in that race are running on the same terrain, for the same distance and in the same weather conditions, this gives a fair indication of your performance whether it is a short fell race in blazing sunshine or a winter road marathon.
- As usual there will be a male and female open club championship trophy to compete for. This will be awarded according to how many points you have accumulated overall. There will only be a prize for 1st place in this category. The winner of this cannot also collect the trophy for their age group and this will be awarded to the 2nd placed person. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the age group championships.
Please let me know by email ASAP if you wish to take part in this year’s club championships. If you want to be included. Please provide your age on 01/01/2017.
