World Vets Mountain Race
Gary Bastow went to Slavakia to run in the world veterans mountain race championships on the 2 September.
The race involved running 10km straight up the mountainside, with 2,000 ft of ascent and a summit finish. In comparison to previous events, this was actually one of the flattest mountain races Gary had done and was more of an uphill trial race! The scenery was spectacular however and with 22 countries involved, was ultra competitive but Gary persevered and came 31st overall.
