Windy Hill Fell Race
Sally Houghton took part in the Windy Hill Fell Race over at Rochdale and it certainly lived up to its name with blizzard conditions throughout.
The course was 9 miles long and included 1,200 ft of ascent over snow, mud and rocky paths including a very high traverse over the M62 on a “swing style” bridge.
Most of it was very runnable on undulating ground with one big ascent at about 2 miles and a fantastic descent back to the finish.
There is talk they might repeat this race in the summer, and if they do, Sally says it will be a great first fell race for anyone used to trail running (and hopefully you will see the fantastic views which yesterday were hidden by thick cloud)
Sally finished 8th lady overall in 1 hour 24 minutes 40 seconds and also claimed 1st V50.
