Vale of York Half Marathon
Report by Andy Purll
On a new flat course that promised fast times and PB’s, the Vale of York Half Marathon certainly delivered. The race is now centred on the village of Wistow, and the 1500 runners take in many car free country roads that were indeed flat and fast, with a number of loops and a switch back section.
Kim Brown continued a fine year being first back for Ripon in 1 hr 20 mins and 44th overall.
Lee Stanley took around 2 mins off his HM PB, by scoring a magnificent 1 hr 22 mins, with Trevor Bosomworth chasing in 1 hr 25.
Sarah Bromiley set out to smash 2 hrs for the first time, and stormed home in 1 hr 59 mins and Paul Ackerley also recorded a PB in 2 hrs 3 mins.
More success was still to come as David Oakes completed his first HM in a terrific time of 2 hr 6 mins.
Other times:
Douglas Scott 1 hr 28
Michael Hall 1 hr 31
Adrian Taylor 1 hr 48
Andy Purll 2 hr 4
David Taylor 2 hr 15
