Vale of York Half Marathon
Report from Neil Dring…
22 members took on the challenge of the Vale of York Half Marathon. Conditions were much cooler than last weekend, but a really strong swirling breeze, though it helped (a bit) in the early stages made it particularly tough going in the last 3 miles as weary legs faced a battle to the line into what seemed like an increasingly brisk headwind. For all that, Ripon Runners had a good day, given that pancake flat on tarmac isn’t the kind of racing we’re necessarily used to. The smiles on (most) faces at the end suggests it’s good to ring a change of terrain every now and again.
First home for Ripon was Kim Brown in a terrific time of 1:20:54, followed by Lee Stanley 1:24:27 and Ben Imeson 1:28:56. New member Alan Kyle had a great run to finish in 1:40:24. First Ripon lady over the line was Kate Reilly in 1:44:25, closely followed by Nicole Sutton 1:45:12 with Hayley Whipp third back in 1:57:03.
Other results were:
