Swaledale Marathon
While many Ripon members enjoyed supporting their team in Knaresborough, many also attended the 37th Swaledale Marathon in Reeth. The course is just over 23 miles long but has 3,700 feet of ascent making it a particular tough race, especially in the humid conditions that greeted all runners. First back for Ripon and 4th overall was Spike Ambrey Smith in 3 hours 17 minutes, just 15 minutes behind the overall winner. Three more Ripon Runners made the top 20 with Alex Fawcett finishing in 3:20, and only a few seconds separating Ben Imeson and Paul Walker in 3:41. Dave Jelley (3:49) and Joe Lofthouse (3:53) were followed by Bridget Bastow, who enjoyed a great run for 5th lady overall and first Ripon female in 3:55, and Matthew Holt (3:58). Other runners were:
