Super Sally Claims Two Wins
Sally Houghton had a busy few days as she claimed two firsts in her age group. She took part in the Sedbergh fell race, the first race of the 2016 BOFRA series. In a completely different fell racing challenge for her, the course had 1,200 feet of ascent in only 2.7 miles, which meant very steep ascents and descents. Part of the Sedbergh village gala, this longstanding fell race attracted top runners, with some of the marshals and spectators being former runners of the race many years ago! With good weather and stunning views of the Sedbergh fells, Sally completed the race in 31 minutes to claim first V50 and 7th lady.
A few days earlier at the Kildwick fell race near Silsden, Sally had another short and sharp but very enjoyable fell race with just under 4 miles and 800 feet of ascent. The route left the canal side in the village and up on to the tops to do a figure of 8 before descending back down. Sally claimed 1st in her age group again and 3rd lady in about 33 minutes.
