Spike 5th at Ripon Ultra
The Round Ripon Ultra took place on Saturday, starting at Studley village hall and following an undulating 35 mile circuit via North Stainley, Masham, Grantley and Sawley before returning to the start via the mile long road through Fountains Abbey deer park.
Spike Ambrey Smith was 5th overall in fantastic time of 5 hours 18 minutes, while Dave Binks was also under 6 hours for 10th place in 5:49. Heather Glegg completed her first ultra distance race, to claim first in the F40 category and 4th lady overall in 6:43, alongside last year’s ladies champion Anneke Imeson. Colm O’Cofaigh was close behind in 7:06 and helped Ripon win the team prize yet again. Lena Conlin completed the race again in 7:22, with Stan Appleton back in 7:29 and Simon McCudden completed the club’s representatives by finishing in 7:51.
