Round Ripon Ultra
Ripon Runners flocked to the last Ripon Ultra race, a 35 mile circular route starting in Studley Roger taking in the villages of North Stainley and Mickley on the way to Masham. The course then becomes more undulating as runners return via the Swinton estate and Sawley.
2015 champion Alex Fawcett ran a selfless race and sacrificed another win, as he kept two other runners company and helped them navigate the route, before finishing just one minute behind the pair to claim 3rd place in 5 hours 50 seconds.
Steve Silver completed his first ultra race in a great time of 6 hours 11 minutes, with 2015 female champion Anneke Imeson first RR lady in 6:23. Lena Conlin started a long weekend of runs by finishing in a course PB time of 6:45, with Jane Grundy, Dave Allen and Nicole Sutton following in 7:15 and Dave Nicklas in 7.23 and Tony White in 7.25 not far behind. Penny Nicklas and Karen Jones (7.43), Kim Holden and Phil Moores (8.16) and James Stuart-mills (8.36) completed the line up.
