Racebest York 5km Series - 20 Oct
Report by John Chatwin
Five members ventured over to York for the first 5km race in the series since lock down began. On what was a great evening for running at the York Sports Village near the University it was brilliant to watch the racing and see some fantastic times recorded.
Three waves of racing took place. About 70/80 runners in each wave setting off in socially distanced groups of 8, every 10 seconds. For those who haven’t been to the sports village, races are run on their 1km cycle track, similar to the Brownlee Centre in York.
In the 1st wave were Neil Dring and Anneke Imeson showing a great return to racing and form:
Neil Dring – 21.44
Anneke Imeson – 23.31
In the 2nd wave Doug Scott and Ben Imeson both ran really well:
Doug Scott – 18.08
Ben Imeson – 19.41
And in the 3rd wave I went off hoping for a quick time but seemed to leave my legs in Ripon:
John Chatwin – 18.50
The next race takes place on the 12th November with entries opening on the 23rd Oct and I’m sure they’ll sell out fast. Be great to see a good contingent of RRs there at the next one.
