Racebest 5km Series - Race 1
Report by John Chatwin
Racebest once again organised a fantastic evening of racing at the Brownlee Centre in Leeds. This was race 1 of a 10 race series and it was great to see four Ripon Runners flying the flag on a cold but almost perfect evening for running.
The evening is split into two races (A&B) and is held on the cycle circuit at the centre. Beth Constantine and Helen Kristine both ran fantastic races in the B race. Beth smashing her 5km PB – 23.18, again proving that consistent training and hard work really does pay off. Helen also recorded her fastest 5km in some time – 24.47!
Later in the A race John Chatwin came home in a new 5km PB of 17.52 closely followed by Simon Cave in 18.42. The A race had some very fast runners with the overall winner smashing the 15min mark in 14.53!!
Racebest put on a great series in Leeds, which is also accompanied by a 5km Series in York. With the warmer, lighter nights ahead of us it would be great to see more Ripon Runners having a crack at these races and putting all of their training into practice. You can still enter each race individually and it’s pretty cheap, plus you get chocolate at the finish!
