Pen-y-ghent Fell Race
Sally Houghton took part in the Pen-y-ghent Fell Race, a 6.5 miles long route with 1800 ft of ascent. Despite being a very muggy and very foggy day the route was full of walkers stopping to cheer the runners on! The course goes from the Horton show and up around the back of Pen-y-ghent, then up the steeper side which is a bit of a scramble at times – fortunately the thick fog meant you could not see the drop. Then up to the top of the peak and across open fell with just one last climb before descending back to the show ground. Keeping an eye out for the runner ahead proved pretty challenging at times but Sally was 3rd lady, and once again first v50.
