Peco XC Race 3 - Crimple Valley

This Sunday saw the Yorkshire show ground provide a stiff test in the latest round of the PECO Cross Country championship.
A twisty course, compounded by calf deep mud and a cruel uphill finish ( navigated twice) meant all runners faced a serious challenge in the popular cross country race.
Trevor “ the machine” Schofield, making his debut in the series, and fresh from a terrific run in the Yorkshire Champs, was first male home for Ripon in 72 nd place. John Chatwin showed consistent form in 136th, with another debutant Scott Brown finishing 3rd back for Ripon.
A three way tussle developed for 4th home, with Paul “the Rocket” Brockett taking the spoils ahead of Tim Joynson and Stan Appleton.
Another debutant, Jenny Jakeman, running her first cross country for the club, came home first lady for the club, smashing a top 100 finish, but she had to work hard to hold off the irrepressible Angie Benson, who also finished inside the top 100 only 30 seconds behind Jenny. Suzanne Rickard, a seasoned pro at this game, took another 3rd lady back for the club. Another scrap for 4th home developed for the ladies this time, Hazel Russell finding her groove, just ahead of Sarah Wolfinden with Anne Cheeseman next.
A clash with Muddy Boots means numbers might be less in the next round on 9th Feb, but it’s never too late to enter and you’ll have loads of fun, why not give it a go?
