Minster to Minster 2017

Also on Saturday, the club held its annual “Minster to Minster” run from the steps of Ripon Cathedral to the doors of York minster.

At just over 29 miles, the emphasis was more on endurance than speed, with many members running the distance for the first time.

The route left Ripon and followed the back roads to Boroughbridge via Skelton, and then turns off road for long riverside sections, often overgrown, to Ouseburn and Aldwark. A mixture of road and good paths then followed until the final approach to York.

With waves of runners setting off from Ripon in the early hours, everyone had caught up by Lendall bridge for the final run to York Minster. All 40 members who set off completed the run, with a number battling knocks, cramps and niggles through the last few miles.

All runners would like to thank the various support cars and runners for their valuable assistance.
