Lakes Mountain 42
In hot and sunny conditions in Cumbria on Saturday, Colm O’Cofaigh continued his Lakeland 100 preparations by completing the Lakes Mountain 42, a race covering distance of 42 miles with approximately 10,000 feet of ascent. The event starts at 6 am from Askham and heads over Loadpot Hill to the peak of High Street, and then down into Patterdale. The route then goes to Grisedale and over to Thirlmere, and then back over the peaks of Helvellyn, Whiteside and Place Fell before heading back to the finish in Askham, for a truly spectacular course. There was no set route – runners were given grid references and can navigate between them as they wished, and Colm finished in 12 hours 56 mins.
