Knaresborough Bed Race
Ripon Runners took the top two prizes at this year’s Bed Race, claiming both the male and female team titles.
The men’s team were the fastest team of the day winning comfortably over their second placed rivals, while the ladies were once again in a league of their own as they made six wins in a row.
Both teams benefited this year from the engineering expertise of Malcolm Gatford (Suzanne Rickard’s father). Malcolm has constructed and fine tuned the bed used by the ladies team for many years, but this year went on a worldwide sourcing mission for materials in order to also build a complete new bed for the men’s team.
The successful team members were:
- Ladies: Suzanne Rickard, Claire Walker, Kristie Taylor, Donna Riddler, Becky Turner and Anneke Imeson
- Men: Jim Berriman, James Boddy, Lee Stanley, Reece Dalton, Mark Ryder, Ben Pease
