HDSRL race 4 - Nidd Valley

Report by Andy Purll

91 runners set out in a Ripon Runners vest. First back for Ripon was the impressive Toby Antcliff in 10th place, closely followed by Kim Brown in 15th and Lee Stanley in 18th.

In the overall league picture, it looks inevitable that Harrogate have now won the overall trophy as they had 10 men, in the top 24, but it was pleasing see our 10 scorers were in the top 53. (the previous 3 mentioned plus Trevor Schofield, Lucas Fawcett, Simon Cave, Alex Fawcett, Trevor Bosomworth, Emma and Paul Layfield)

It was oh so competitive in the ladies race, Emma Sorby managing 3rd overall, Victoria Morris coming 7th and Morag McDowell next in 19th place.

You may remember my impassioned plea for our veteran men to attend and hopefully keep hold of 1st place, so how did we do? Well, its difficult to tell as its across 3 age groups and is the best 3 of 4 races, Harrogate had 5 qualifiers in the top 44, we had 5 in the top 34 so going to be very close, fingers crossed.

In the age categories, this is where we top scored
Kelly Dunkley was 10th in FV35
Nicole Sutton was 9th in the FV40
Suzanne Rickard was a tremendous 3rd in the FV45
Anita Oldham was 11th in the FV50
Morag McDowell was FIRST in the FV55 – great stuff
Fiona Alder 2nd and Aileen O’Kane 3rd in the FV60 – excellent running
Linda Cadman was 3rd in the FV65 and running strong

For the men
Lee Stanley was 3rd in the MV40, super form
Kim Brown 3rd in the MV45, making it look easy
Alex Fawcett was 3rd in the MV50 (There is a theme here !)
Lenny Lenox was (you guessed it) 3rd in the MV55
Ray Johnstone was 6th in the MV60
John Ward was FIRST in the MV70, back at his best
John Grundy 2nd in the MV75 (No ill effects from Glasto!)

Team positions will be confirmed at the end of season and award ceremony at Wetherby on Wednesday the 17th

Great running folks!
