Harrogate 10k

Report by Helen Cox_

Sunday 30th June saw 10 Ripon Runners take part in the Harrogate 10k – this is a multi-terrain race set in the picturesque Crimple Valley. It starts and finishes at Harrogate Sports and Fitness Centre and follows an undulating route that is approximately 70% tarmac road and paths with the rest taking you across fields and through woods. Runners were faced with the dreaded “ Crimple Killer” hill at the end, approximately 1.2km of incline and you are tempted to try not to walk when you see and hear the cheers of support and encouragement from the spectators. Finishers received a medal and a water bottle, plus some of us won spot prizes where we claimed buffs, socks, beauty vouchers – despite the extremely difficult hill at the very end, I would highly recommend this race – marshals were brilliant and there were lots of food stands at the end too.

First back for Ripon was Simon Cave in 41.57 followed by Trevor Schofield in 42.17
First lady back was Beth Constantine in 54.54
Other results are:
