Hardmoors Goathland Marathon
Three members completed Saturday’s Goathland Marathon, the latest in the Hardmoors marathon series. As is usual with these races, the course was actually nearer 28 miles long, but once combined with almost 3,500 feet of ascent and plenty of mud, it certainly felt a lot longer once the finish line was in sight.
Michael Hall, who won the overall marathon series in 2016 and is in contention to defend the title this year, was first back for RR in 5 hours 13 minutes, just 6 minutes ahead of Colm O’Cofaigh (5:19), who was completing yet another ultra to add to his impressive 2017 collection. Lena Conlin collected more silverware with a win the Female V50 category in 5 hours 42 minutes, to go with her red hoody and 2nd overall female prize she collected earlier in the day for completing the Hardmoors 2017 grand slam. Claire Baker also collected her hoody and trophy for first female overall in the grand slam.
