Hardmoor Wainsones Marathon
The Hardmoors Marathon Trail Series returned with one of the most challenging courses for those attempting both the full and half distance events. Starting in the village of Chop Gate, both routes took in many familiar peaks including the Wainstones, after which the 13 mile course returned to Chop Gate while those doing the full 27 mile course continued to Bloworth Crossing before returning to complete the race having achieved a total of 4,800 feet of ascent.
Claire Baker followed up last weeks Hanging Stone 2nd female spot with another great performance to be Ripon’s first runner back, claiming 4th lady and 16th place overall, in a time of 4 hours 51 minutes. Claire was followed by Michael Hall who finished approximately 5 minutes later, while only 2 minutes separated the duo of Lena Conlin (6:36) and Kim Holden (6:38). Completing the equally tough and undulating half route were the trio of Jonathon Baker, Simon McCudden and Neil Dring in a time of 3 hours 15 minutes.
