Hanging Stone Leap
Lets Run resurrected the Hanging Stone Leap race, previously organised by the LDWA. Offering a choice of two distances – 13 and 24 miles, the event was open to walkers and runners with a maximum time limit of ten hours. A number of Ripon Runners were on the start line.
First back for the club on the longer route was Alex Fawcett in an amazing time of 3 hours 35 minutes. Alex recorded ascent of over 3600ft over the course and finished 4th overall. Other runners to complete the longer route were Paul Walker (3:55), Ray Raper (4:29), Sheena Jackson (5:49) and Julian Davis (5:49).
Meanwhile the shorter route was completed by Mathew Holt (2:53), Claire Baker (2:53), Kim Holden (3:17) and Phil Holden (3:17). Kim recorded 13.4 miles with 1900ft of ascent. Unfortunately Tony White had to retire from the race early on due to an ankle injury.
