Filey Flyer
Report by Matt Holt
Three Ripon Runners braved a windy day by the seaside for today’s LDWA event. They offer a long and short route, both starting in Filey town centre
The Filey Flyer is held every other year, with The Scarborough Rock race held on other years.
Runners and walkers first head north on the Cleveland Way for 5 miles, then head inland to finally join the Wolds Way for a few miles. Having done the Hardwolds 80 in 2018 and 2019, it was nice to finally see this bit of the Wolds Way in daylight.
Tim Joynson decided to walk the short route of just over 16 miles, finishing in 4 hours 33 mins.
Chairman Simon McCudden enjoyed a course PB time, completing the long course of 21.5 miles (2011 foot of ascent) in 4 hours 24 minutes.
I managed my quickest time for the long route too, returning in 3 hours 29 minutes to finish 10th overall.
