Report by Lenny Lennox

This event took place at Bramham Park Leeds over the weekend 29-30 June. The event is really well organised, with highly enthusiastic marshal support on the ground for the whole 24 hrs. A sports village is centred on the start and finish with lots of refreshments stalls and there is a much needed sports massage tent with approx. 12 beds. Ample parking and camping space was available as well as luxurious showers and toilets.

The course is as relentless and brutal as advertised and the extremely hot weather on the Saturday added to the fun. The male team plan was to beat or equal last year’s course record of 42 laps which would require continuously having a team member on the course running a sub 40 min 8k. Overall the team achieved 41 laps (205 miles) and came second in the Male Large team category being beaten by a worthy 47 laps from the incredibly impressive Village People team.

The 7Stray Runners team was a mixed team of Ripon Runners and Harrogate Harriers:
Paul Richardson (Capt) 7 Laps Harrogate Harriers
Roger Hutton 7 Laps Harrogate Harriers
Tom Harris 7 Laps Harrogate Harriers
Doug Scott 6 Laps
Michael Hernandez 6 Laps
Lenny Lennox 5 Laps
Kim Brown 3 Laps

Lena Conlin entered as a solo female finishing in 11th place after spending 24 hrs and 13 mins on the course achieving 17 laps.

Andrea Richardson ran 5 laps as part of Mums on the Run team who placed 1st in their category with 36 laps.
