In Wensleydale, the final race in the Dales Trail series took place. After races of 20k and 30k, over technical, undulating terrain, the final instalment saw competitors compete over 42k of beautiful Wensleydale countryside, in the hills above Hawes and Buckden and around Semer Water.
First home for Ripon was Alex fawcett in 4 hr 7 min and taking second in the males veterans over 50 event. Next was Paul Walker in 4 hr 23 min, followed by Steve Silver, showing continued improvement in 4 hr 38 min and Anneke Imeson, second female in the female vets category in 4 hr 45 min. Ian Wallace ran well in 5 hr 5 min and James Stuart Mills whipped in the last finishers in just over 7 hrs.
With all three races completed, the grand slam prize, which combines results from all 3 events, saw Alex Fawcett win outright the male veteran over 50 category, and there was notable honours for other Ripon Runners, as Paul Walker finished 10th overall, Steve Silver 34th, Anneke Imeson 40th, Ian Wallace 42nd and James Stuart Mills 89th.
