DT20 Trail Series
The 2016 Dales Trail Series kicked off with a 20 kilometre race based in Reeth on Saturday. The series has three races in total with the 30K in July and the 40k in September to follow later this year.
The tough 20k race started with a steep ascent over Fremington Edge followed by fast technical descents with stunning views of the northern Dales. The race was won in a time of 1 hour 25 minutes by Ben Huskins, however, Ripon members also did themselves proud with Pete Chapman first back in 11th position overall in 1:42:41 and Ben Imeson 16th in 1:46:03. Dave Binks (1:46:56) and Paul Walker (1:47:27) were not far behind in 19th and 20th position respectively. Claire Baker was fist lady for Ripon in 2:01:57 taking 4 minutes off last years time.
Next over the over the line were husband and wife duo Iain Wallace (2:09:56) and Jo Wallace (2:15:13). Other finishers were: Kim Holden (2:24:47), Chris I’Anson (2:29:11), Richard Appleton (2:34:18), Graham Haycock (2:38:31), Simon McCudden (2:42:22), Nicole Sutton, Kelly Dunkley & Lesley Willoughby (2:45:39), Andy Purll & Tony Carr (2:55:48), John Bull (3:13:09).
