Cookridge Community 10K

This is a brand new race in the running calendar. It was set up in memory of Gareth Dunn who was a very promising athlete and had a great future ahead of him before he sadly died of cancer in October 2018. His story is well worth a read and can be found here – www.cookridgecommunityrun.co.uk.
The race starts and finishes at The Scout Hut to the west of Golden Acre Park, Leeds. The whole route is entirely off road on trails and grass. The route runs in an easterly direction along winding trails and through attractive woodland before reaching Golden Acre Park where we pass the pretty lake and complete a lap of the park before heading along the same outward trail and back to The Scout Hut. There are slight undulations all the way around the course but there is nothing overly demanding to fear! The route is also constantly winding and so it never becomes boring. There is always something to hold the attention.
The race has a limit of 380 runners and costs around the £16 mark to enter. There are drinks and cakes galore served by the Scouts and Scout leaders in The Scout Hut after the race.
The men’s race was won by Ciaran Forde from Leeds City AC in a time of 34.23. First home for the ladies was Sarah Maile in a time of 43.14. Ripon Runner’s Kim Brown finished in 7th place in a time of 39.06.
