Charlesworth Chase
Four members took part in the Charlesworth Chase fell race on Saturday 19 May. The race sets off from the Craven Arms at Appletreewick to the top of Simon’s Seat and back, all competitors have to drink a pint before they can finish the race. First back for Ripon was Dave Binks in 47.08 in 21st place, hot on his heels was Mike Hernandez in 26th place in 48 minutes. His beer drinking skills costing him a couple of places. Douglas Scott finished in 45th place in 50.54. Fourth Ripon runner home was Steve Grange in 99th position out of 118 runners. Ian Holmes of Bingley Harriers won in a time of 36.51 on a hot day in Nidderdale. The race is great fun, great value, friendly and highly recommend.
