Calderdale Hike
Claire Baker and Matthew Holt completed the 38.5 mile Calderdale Hike, an event which also offers a shorter 26 mile route, and in recent years has become part of the Ultra Running Series. As such, it now attracts entries from some of the top fell runners in the country, and this year saw double Bob Graham Round finisher Nicky Spinks alongside Spine Challenge female record holder Carol Morgan. The weather was generally very good, however, there was some heavy rain for over an hour as runners crossed the M62 motorway twice to reach one checkpoint. The mainly off road course included 6,400 feet of ascent and ended with sections of knee deep mud 3 miles from the end. The pair finally finished in 8 hours 49 minutes.
