Bridget the best at Wensleydale
Bridget Bastow continued the family winning streak by claiming the female title at the recent LDWA Wensleydale Wedge event on Sunday 16 November. Her time of 3 hours 55 minutes was eight minutes quicker than her husband Gary, who the evening before collected his trophy for being the BOFRA V50 champion for 2014.
A misty morning welcomed entrants at the start of the 24 mile long undulating course at Askrigg in the heart of Wensleydale. A long climb uphill after five miles gave the runners great views above the mist to sunshine and blue skies.
A welcome return to his best form saw Ben Imeson first back for Ripon and 6th overall in 3 hours 23 minutes. Paul Walker also did well to record a course PB in 3 hours 35 minutes with Simon Merrin following closely in 3:38.
