Bolton Abbey Run
Bolton Abbey hosted 4 races in one morning on Sunday, with runners enjoying the stunning scenery of the countryside in glorious sunshine and blue skies. The hilly and undulating routes offered 2 mile, 10k, 10 mile and 13 mile distances, and were started at 2 minute intervals with the routes sharing parts of the course. This meant that the course seemed quiet at times during each distance, only for hundreds of runners to suddenly merge from other directions.
The 10k, 10 mile and Half marathon routes saw club members competing, with Simon Cave almost winning the 10k event in 45 minutes 8 seconds, only 21 seconds behind the winner, to claim third place. Kari Munro claimed an excellent 2nd place in her age category despite adding an extra 1k on her race after a wrong turn, to finish in 57:19, while Jill Holt also claimed second in her age group as well in 1 hour 49 seconds. Samantha Lyon (1:06:54), Dean Woodward (1:10;09), and Sally Cornforth (1:24:53) completed the 10k line up.
At the 10 mile distance was Jane Goodwin (2:29:15), Jackie Scott (2:29:16) and Alexandra Nicol (2:36:24), while the half marathon was completed by Joe Lofthouse (1:49:14), Lee Stanley (1:51:36), Dewi Winkle (1:59:01), Matthew Holt (2:03:56), Stan Appleton (2:39:00), Andy Purll (2:43:44) and Pamela Munro (3:04:41).
