Berlin Marathon

Report by Kim Holden…

The weather in Berlin was good on Sunday with a nice breeze when we set off at 9.15. However, it did get very warm a few hours down the line causing some crowding at water stations and a few casualties along the way. The mainly flat course is all run on roads through the centre of the city and is well supported and marshalled. There is a spectacular finish running through the Brandenburg gate, so well worth doing for that, the great medal and all the lovely people we met while we were there. I was pleased with my time of 4:29:53 as it’s a while since I’ve done a road marathon and proud to have taken part in a race where a new world record of 2:01:39 was set by Eliud Kipchoge.

Husband Phil did Berlin parkrun on Saturday. Normally there are less than 100 runners but about 500 turned up for a marathon warm up!
