Beamsley Beacon Fell Race
A record turnout of Ripon Runners at the Beamsley Beacon Fell Race last Thursday, with 8 Ripon Runners on the starting line. Warm humid conditions meant the very runnable race to the top was hard going although underfoot was dry. With 900ft of ascent over the 5 mile course and a free choice of route back down, most runners opted for the descent across the heather followed by a narrow nettle filled gulley.
James Boddy came in first for RR in 28th place overall in 42 minutes 33 seconds followed by Reece Dalton 45:12, Douglas Scott 44:52 and then Sally Houghton (5th lady 1st vet 50) in 46:25. Donna Riddler had a great run for a 47:17 finish, 3 years on from last doing the race. Trevor Schofield 49:23, Tim Joynson 56:28 and Kim Holden 59:00 all finished under the hour mark.
