Abingdon Marathon
The Abingdon Marathon (just south of Oxford) is a long established marathon with the event consisting of a flat figure of eight course, which is completed twice. Simon McCudden first ran this marathon in 1990 and the course has not changed that much since. Starting and finishing in the local athletics stadium, a very well organised event by Abingdon Runners, with 743 finishers (mostly club runners) with a 5 hour time limit due to road closures. Weather was cool and foggy for the first 2 hours then it warmed up with bright sunshine, this time Simon managed 4hrs 46mins with the last 7 miles being a particular challenge.
