A Quartet of Fell Races
Fell races were the dish of choice for a number or runners in the last week. At Kilnsey fell race, packed with champions past and present, Sally Houghton finished as 8th lady in 12:49, with Martin Gabriel 13:59. Not content with running Kilnsey, the pair then raced the Reeth Fell Race, Sally taking 2nd lady overall in 21:26 and Martin finished in 23:55.
Roseberry Topping Fell Race, with 720 ft of climb to the trig point and back, via any route possible was mastered by Spike Ambery Smith, 4th overall in 12:57, Steve Grange and Leena Conlin following in 24:57.
Leena Conlin then entered the longer 4 Peaks Fell Race at Lordstones, taking on the climbs of Carlton Moor, Cringle Moor, Cold Moor and Wainstones, 1,835 ft of ascent in 1 hr 43 mins, claiming first in age category at the same time.
