Ripon Runners to embrace Rugby
The membership have given their views and the committee has voted unanimously for change. Ripon Runners have outgrown the cricket pavilion and with no prospect of a joint development programme between cricketers and runners we have had to look to our future. Your committee has therefore negotiated with the Rugby Club that we move our base to their premises.
Today I gave notice to the President and Chairman of the Cricket Club of our intention to move, as from the end of August. Our first meeting at the Rugby Club will be on Tuesday September 2nd.
There will be many changes and differences in the way we function but the Rugby Club see their future as a family friendly, sports and social club obviously with rugby as their core interest. Furthermore the Rugby Club officers view this new association with our club as fitting in with their long term goals which I think bodes well for our future as well.
Recently the bar at the Rugby Club has been closed on Tuesdays in spite of it being rugby training night but when we arrive in September it will be staffed. Please therefore support the bar! Stay after running for some social interaction with your mates or your chair (!) even if in the past you’ve avoided the Cricket Club bar!
The folk to meet and say hello to at the Rugby Club are, Tim Wray their new president, Andy Proud, immediate past president and Adam Briggs the chairman. It will be with Adam that I liaise on a regular basis.
