Poetic thoughts from a new member!
LADIES THAT RUN
One Tuesday in October I decided to go,
But should I join, I just didn’t know.
So in my car I went, dressed up for fun,
How would I fair when I started to run?
For it was Ripon Runners that I went to see,
All alone, just little old me.
The girls were friendly and oh so kind,
Would I be quick or just lag behind?
How far would we run, I just didn’t know,
“5 miles” they said, I thought “OH NO!”
I gave them a smile as we went out the door,
But my legs were thinking, “3 miles, NO more!”
But I came again on The Thursday night,
And paid my money, but what was in sight?
“Oh we just do laps, 6 times or more”,
But would I survive or be terribly sore.
The next day I ached and could hardly walk,
But one thing’s for sure, I still managed to talk!
I told them at work and they could clearly see,
That this running bug had a hold on me.
I met lots of new people and Zac the dog,
And decided to enter “The Jolly Holly Jog.”
That was my aim and that was my goal,
Run out the pain, it’s good for the soul.
So I owe it to Ripon Runners, you all are to blame,
For the friends I’ve made so glad that I came,
And for my new life, that about to start,
RUNNING, I love it from the bottom of my heart!
