Jottings from the Committee
Earlier in October your committee met as it does most months. There was wide and varied discussion all aimed at keeping Ripon Runners jogging along as smoothly as possible!
Early on in the meeting it was agreed unanimously to co-opt Simon McCudden onto the committee. Members will recall my earlier email and notice in the Chairman’s Chatter that, as Simon has expressed a willingness to stand as our next Chair, he should have experience of the committee. I do emphasise though that in no way is it the intention of the committee to pre-empt the right of anyone to nominate whoever they wish at the AGM which will be in March 2016.
We discussed Nibbles Night, always a popular social event and decided to hold it on December 15th. Mike Pennock is working on a fun, orienteering run around Ripon. Some of you will remember the Lamp Post challenge 2 years ago in which, in spite of me cheating, I still managed to incur a penalty. Justice was served! Details later but the format will be as previous years with folk bringing food, music being served whilst drinks will be playing at the bar!
We also discussed the high spot of Ripon Runners calendar, the annual dinner. We have secured the Old Swan Hotel again (thank you Mr. Ritson) and the date will be January 30th 2016. It is too soon for details yet but please mark the date in your diaries or ipads now.
What next for the Chair’s Chatter? Well some poetry will be our next offering, then I’m working on a short article on knee injuries. Why the sudden interest in knee trauma, particularly cruciate injuries? All will be revealed later.
