Ripon Runners Championship
After three years of organising the Ripon Runners championship Leah Horner has decided to resign. It is quite an onerous task so she has earned her rest! We thank her particularly for the two years that she masterminded “Chase Your Mates” but this did mean that Leah herself could never run on championship nights.
Who is to take over? We are fortunate that I have been successful in press-ganging Jill Holt to take over as “Championship Administrator.” She is an ideal person, not only because of her business skills, but because the job will mesh well with that of Matt as press secretary. Jill will shortly be posting further information on the Championship page of Ripon Runners website to explain how she will facilitate the 2015 championship.
Ripon 10 mile
I promised a prize for the best new name for this race and it may appear that we have reneged on this. Tim Joynson received an enthusiastic response with over 50 name suggestions from about 30 members. When Tim listed the names for a ballot the result was too vague to call a conclusive result with 2 suggestions receiving 3 votes, 2 more another 2 votes each, then a plethora of single votes for most of the other suggestions! It is obvious that no name really stood out, with no name as good as Jolly Holly Jog. The committee therefore decided not to change the Ripon 10 mile name for now, although the issue will be looked at again particularly if we could secure a sponsor. And I get to keep the wine!
