Annual General Meeting
So much has happened in the club since the end of March that the Annual Meeting is already a distant memory. However the attempted putsch to unseat the Chair failed in that I can report that Chris Bennett remains in the chair for another year!
Lisa Sorby, after 10 years as treasurer, resigned her post but will continue to lead our increasingly successful junior section. She will be difficult to replace but fortunately a change of career path for professional accountant, Iain Wallace meant that he could offer himself as our new treasurer. He was dully nominated and elected.
Leah Horner came off the committee and Heather Glegg unwittingly asked a question from the floor. She then found herself duly nominated and elected. The Chair had already suggested that to keep the balance of the committee a female nomination would be preferred.
Matt Holt, although not a committee member has taken on the role of Men’s Captain; this as well as continuing as our press secretary. His wife, Jill, is already masterminding the championship as this post had, of necessity to be filled before the AGM.
The meeting was attended by 35 members, a quarter of the membership. The business was preceded by sandwiches and chips which may or may not have been an incentive to attend. The Chair opened proceedings at 8.15 and the meeting closed at 9.30 which seemed very efficient to me!
