The inaugural Reeth 20k (12.5 mile) fell race on Sunday 4 May proved popular as 128 runners set off an undulating course, which included 1,800 feet of ascent. Ben Imeson (1 hour 33 min) and team mate Alex Fawcett (1:34) were 5th and 6th overall with veteran Gary Bastow 24th in 1:44.
Matthew Holt and Graham Haycock swapped positions for much of the course and ended up finishing less a minute apart in 2:00 and 2:01 with Jo Wallace (2:06), Chris I’Anson (2:15), Penny I’Anson & Dave Nicklas (2:18).
John Grundy chose the tough course to make his return to running after 5 weeks rest due to eye surgery. As usual he put in a spirited performance for a 2:28 finish.
