Loch Ness Running Festival
On Sunday 27 September five runners travelled to Inverness for the Loch Ness running festival. As well as a full marathon, the event also has 5k and 10k races.
Blue skies and sunshine gave everyone fantastic views of Loch Ness and surrounding countryside as the route followed the water’s edge back to Inverness for a city centre finish.
John Grundy started the morning well by completing the 10k race in 49 minutes 13 seconds, before going out on the marathon course to support his daughter Jane and other Ripon members. Matthew Holt was first back of the marathon quartet in 3 hours 55 minutes 22 seconds, followed by Jane Grundy in 4:05:53. Tim Joynson did his first ever road marathon in 4:21:27, while Kim Holden battled through terrible cramp in the last mile to cross the line in 4:41:00.
