Hardmoors 110 in the bag!
Paul Walker completed his toughest challenge to date at the weekend when he attempted the Hardmoors 110 Challenge. The event, in which competitors complete the whole of the Cleveland Way in a non-stop through the night race, starts in Helmsley and heads north to Osmotherley before turning east to the coastal town of Saltburn. The North Sea then acts as a natural guide as the route heads south to the finish at Filey.
The 110 competitors were joined along route by a group doing the 160 mile race, which starts 11 hours earlier in Filey. They run to Helmsley thus turning the course into a full circular route, before completing the 110 route.
Starting at 8 am on Saturday, Paul was supported by club members with food and drink throughout, with friends taking turns to keep him company on the final 70 miles. Missing a night’s sleep on the Saturday didn’t stop Paul recording a finish time of 33 hours 45 minutes, well within the 36 hour cut off time.
