Foreman Whizzes to Wensleydale Success
On Sunday 17 November, a large contingent of Ripon members took part in the Wensleydale Wedge, a tough undulating 23 mile challenge, which starts in Askrigg and takes in Semerwater, Thoralby and Castle Bolton before returning to Askrigg.
Bill Foreman’s excellent 2013 form continued as he crossed the finish line in 3 hours 17 minutes to claim his third LDWA title of the year. Simon Merrin also very impressive, finishing in 4th place overall in a time of 3:30. Next in were Paul Walker and Nick Wilson (3:39), Martin Gabriel (3:43) and Dave Jelley (3:49) with Donna Riddler 3rd female overall and Ray Raper (3:54).
Tim Joynson (4:16) was next, followed by Andy Turner (4:21). Anneke Imeson, Simon McCudden, Jo Hope, Heather Clegg and Dave Nicklaus ran in together in 4 hours 40 miuntes, then Chris I’Anson, Martin Cunningham and Billy Conlin (4:51), with Lena Conlin and John Grundy also achieving a sub 5 hour time to finish in 4 hours 58 minutes. Chris Bennett (5:12), Helen and Lester Pickard (5:56), Caroline Bentham (6:00) and Jackie Turner (6:00) completed the line up.
