Brass Monkey
York Knavesmire held the Brass Monkey half marathon on Sunday 18 January, and the ever popular event, once again sold out months in advance, saw 1420 entrants take to the roads for 13.1 miles of flat road running.
Out of 495 female entrants, Sharon Barlow Hamilton and Tori Green proved they were among the best in the area finishing 2nd and 3rd with Sharon only 13 seconds ahead of Tori in 1 hour 19 minutes 39 seconds and 1:19:52 respectively. Donna Riddler was also very impressive as 21st lady and taking 4 minutes of her previous PB with a 1:28:27.
Having won dozens of ladies team prizes last year, the Ripon trio of Sharon, Tori and Donna started 2015 by adding yet another overall female team prize.
