2013 London Marathon
A select group of Ripon Runners took to the streets of the capital last weekend to compete in the London Marathon. Starting in Greenwich the 26.2 mile course is well supported along its entire route, the crowd often 20 deep cheering on all of the runners.
First home once again for Ripon was the amazing Michael Appleton, finishing in 257 position overall out of the 35,000 entrants in 2 hours 43 minutes 1 second.
Next home was Suzanne Rickard who knocked 13 minutes off last years London time to finish in 3:53:12.
First time marathon runner Claire Walker was hero of the day when she joined the sub four hour club with a brilliant time of 3:56:30. Allan Hansen was not far behind in 3:59:50, Laura Strangeway completed the course in 4:14:24 and John Bull completed the Ripon line up in 5:04:02.
