Jolly Holly and Captain Cooks 2012
Ripon Runners hosted their annual Jolly Holly Jog around Studley Park on 27th December. The race was well attended with over 400 runners taking part in the 10k multi terrain course with favourable weather conditions for the time of year. A few of Ripon’s members represented the club by running the event first home was Simon Cave in a creditable 10th place in a time of 38.46, he was followed by Alexander Fawcett 40.55, Anthony Jefford 41.25, Joe Lofthouse 41.53, Simon Merrin 42.16, Gary Wilks 46.06, Robin Kehoe 46.52, Lena Conlin 59.27, Annette Stainthorpe 1.01.38, Sherrie Hunt 1.02.23.
The first race of the New Year took place at Great Ayton with the Esk Valley Runner’s Captain Cook’s fell race. The race takes runners up to Captain Cook’s Monument on the North York Moors on a five mile course. First of Ripon’s finishers was Ian Chapman in a time of 38.23, he was followed by Fred Clapham in 40.32, Martin Gabriel 41.24, Steve Smith 41.55, Nigel Bower 46.01.
