Ripon Runners was founded in 1984 as road running began its extraordinary ascendancy from the sport of eccentrics to probably Britain’s most participated in athletic activity. Our president, Monty Munson, now in his 80’s and still running, was one of our founder members as was Rodney Mills who in his seventies has found new fame as Britain’s over 70 indoor champion at 400 metres.

Burton Leonard 10K
Just a few miles from Ripon was the Burton Leonard 10k run, an undulating course with a tough finish. Ben Pease was first Ripon back in 4th position overall in 36 minutes 35 seconds, while Alex Fawcett recovered from his DT30 experience the day before for another top 10 finish in 39:12.

Cracoe Fell Race
On Sunday Sally Houghton Completed another BOFRA fell race, this time from Cracoe near Grassington. The 2.7 miles long course packed in 900ft ascent, which went up to the war memorial above Cracoe. Saint Cuthbert's Ultra
Also on Saturday was the Saint Cuthbert’s Way Ultra, a race bridging the national borders between Scotland and England. The 100km (62 miles) started at Holy Island and headed Westwards crossing large sections of the Northumberland National Park and the beautiful Scottish Borders region, before finishing at Melrose. We meet at the venue at about 6:45 to run at 7 pm. There are 3 groups of differing pace and distance. We then enjoy refreshments and a buffet afterwards.
There are facilities for getting cleaned up.
