Ripon Runners was founded in 1984 as road running began its extraordinary ascendancy from the sport of eccentrics to probably Britain’s most participated in athletic activity. Our president, Monty Munson, now in his 80’s and still running, was one of our founder members as was Rodney Mills who in his seventies has found new fame as Britain’s over 70 indoor champion at 400 metres.

Boston (UK) Marathon
Simon McCudden ran the Boston Marathon in Lincolnshire, the course being a nice rural flat one on minor roads. The weather conditions were kind, and Simon completed his 65th road marathon in a superb sub 4 hour time of 3hrs 54mins 20secs.
This event is run on the same day as its more famous counterpart in the USA...
361 runners completed the undulating Helmesley 10k race on Easter Sunday, with Tom Charlton from Tyne Bridge Harriers winning the race by almost three minutes in 34 minutes 26 seconds.

Hardmoors White Horse Marathon
Also tackling the hot weather conditions on Sunday were six members at the White Horse Marathon, the latest in the Hardmoors Marathon series.
Michael Hall was first back for the club over the undulating 27 mile course, which started and finished at Sutton Bank Visitor Centre, in approximately 4 hours 50 minutes.

Saturday: Park at Bowness, ferry across Windermere then running in the beautiful countryside of Langdale and Elterwater.
Sunday: Run, followed by lake steamer trip back to the start.
