Ripon Runners was founded in 1984 as road running began its extraordinary ascendancy from the sport of eccentrics to probably Britain’s most participated in athletic activity. Our president, Monty Munson, now in his 80’s and still running, was one of our founder members as was Rodney Mills who in his seventies has found new fame as Britain’s over 70 indoor champion at 400 metres.

Emma Wins 10k
16 year old Emma Sorby was first lady home at the Bedale 10k race on Saturday and 16th overall in great time of 43 minutes 41 seconds, while Reece Dalton led Ripon home with 4th overall in 36:48. Other finishers and times are below:

Sutton on the Forest 10k
On a flat rural course taking in the grounds of the Sutton Park Estate, Charlotte Blaken was first back for Ripon in her latest 10k race, finishing in 63 minutes 1 seconds. Ray Johnstone almost retired at 4k with an injury but managed to finish alongside wife Paula in 65:56.
Loch Ness Marathon
In Inverness in Scotland at the Loch Ness marathon, Jill Holt completed the 26.2 mile road course in personal best time of 3 hours 56 minutes. Training to restart
You will all be pleased to know that Ian Rowbotham is super fit and looking forward to putting you all thorough your paces!
Training starts on Thursday 22nd September, 6.30 pm at the Rugby Club, £2.50 payable on the night. Those of you who have not experienced formal training before are as welcome as our more experienced runners.
