Ripon Runners was founded in 1984 as road running began its extraordinary ascendancy from the sport of eccentrics to probably Britain’s most participated in athletic activity. Our president, Monty Munson, now in his 80’s and still running, was one of our founder members as was Rodney Mills who in his seventies has found new fame as Britain’s over 70 indoor champion at 400 metres.

British Masters Indoors
Rodney Mills set two new record times at the recent British Masters Indoors Championship in London.
In the 400 metre race, Rodney set a new championship record time of 84.49 seconds, while the following day he broke his own British record in the 800 metres race by 10 seconds finishing in 3 minutes 17.46 seconds.
Weather conditions at this year’s event were probably the toughest ever experienced by most of the runners and support crews, as snow and strong winds hit the North York’s Moors area.

On an otherwise wet and gloomy Saturday, an unexpected 2 hour dry spell opened up just as the Dent 14 mile race got underway.
