Ripon Runners was founded in 1984 as road running began its extraordinary ascendancy from the sport of eccentrics to probably Britain’s most participated in athletic activity. Our president, Monty Munson, now in his 80’s and still running, was one of our founder members as was Rodney Mills who in his seventies has found new fame as Britain’s over 70 indoor champion at 400 metres.

The 2015 Ripon 10 Mile
The club hosted its annual 10 mile race on Sunday 17 May with just over 400 entries making the event a great success. Lichfield Half Marathon
Dawn Griffin travelled south to join 1,500 other competitors for the Lichfield Half Marathon on the 3rd May, which marked a return to distance running for her after suffering injuries. The three spired cathedral was a welcome site for runners returning on the circular route with Dawn finishing in 2 hours 25 minutes.

Junior Championships 2015
The second race of the Championships took place in some very freaky weather – cold heavy thundery rain showers – but we were lucky that the majority of the race the rain held off. Well done to all juniors and minis who took place, and a big thank you to all marshals who braved the rain.
The annual club event was our Settle to Ingleton weekend. Saturday April 11th was cold and very windy but clear with wonderful views of the Western Dales.
