Ripon Runners was founded in 1984 as road running began its extraordinary ascendancy from the sport of eccentrics to probably Britain’s most participated in athletic activity. Our president, Monty Munson, now in his 80’s and still running, was one of our founder members as was Rodney Mills who in his seventies has found new fame as Britain’s over 70 indoor champion at 400 metres.

Rosedale Hardmoors Marathon
In the Yorkshire Moors, Lena Conlin (6 hr 7 min) Nicole Sutton and Lucy Smith (both 6:38), Simon McCudden (7:08) and Steve Silver, successfully completed the Rosedale Hardmoors Marathon (actually 29 miles!) with Jo Thwaites and Linda Cadman (both 2:09) completing the 10k event. Lena was first overall in the female over 50 category.
Arncliffe Fell Race
In the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, three Ripon Runners took part in the Arncliffe Fell Race – part of the annual village fete! Balmullo Trail Race
North of the Border, in the kingdom of Fife, Tim Joynson enjoyed a running holiday, taking part in the Balmullo Trail Race. With 635ft of ascent, and some tough opposition, Tim finished in a time of 42:55, in 106th place.

Good race conditions this week saw an excellent turn out for our penultimate championship race. Some fabulous sprint finishes made it a close race for most competitors.
