Ripon Runners was founded in 1984 as road running began its extraordinary ascendancy from the sport of eccentrics to probably Britain’s most participated in athletic activity. Our president, Monty Munson, now in his 80’s and still running, was one of our founder members as was Rodney Mills who in his seventies has found new fame as Britain’s over 70 indoor champion at 400 metres.

The annual Melmerby 10k race was held on Sunday 24 May, with Ripon females claiming prizes. The club claimed a junior race 1-2-3 with Chloe Dalton first girl, Libby Rickard second and Ella Foster claiming third. In the main 10k race Elise Nicholson won first local in 46 minutes 8 seconds.

HDSRL at Dragons
The second of the Harrogate League evening races was staged in Yeadon, Leeds on Thursday 21 May. The 5.5mile course is undulating and has mixed terrain of tarmac, fields and woodland trails. James Boddy was 12th overall in 35:38 with Claire Jamieson first lady for the club in 42:06. Other finishers were:

Junior Championships 2015
The second race of the Championships took place in some very freaky weather – cold heavy thundery rain showers – but we were lucky that the majority of the race the rain held off. Well done to all juniors and minis who took place, and a big thank you to all marshals who braved the rain.
The annual club event was our Settle to Ingleton weekend. Saturday April 11th was cold and very windy but clear with wonderful views of the Western Dales.
