Welcome
to Ripon Runners
Ripon Runners was founded in 1984 as road running began its extraordinary ascendancy from the sport of eccentrics to probably Britain’s most participated in athletic activity. Our president, Monty Munson, now in his 80’s and still running, was one of our founder members as was Rodney Mills who in his seventies has found new fame as Britain’s over 70 indoor champion at 400 metres.

Report by Anne Cheeseman
The British Heart Foundation Harewood House 10k and Half Marathon took place on Sunday with a number of Ripon Runners participating.

Chatter and Tales
Montane Spine Race 2019
I have been fascinated with the Spine Race since about 2016 when, like so many other people, I followed the dots on the tracker and watched Eoin Keith and Pavel Paloncy battle it out at the front. The race is 268 miles long with about 13,135 m of ascent. It starts in Edale, in the Peak District in Derbyshire and follows the entire ‘Pennine Way’ long-distance national trail to finish in Scotland in the small border town of Kirk Yetholm
The Northern Traverse
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to walk from coast to coast, West to East? No? not for you? you are not alone there. But then ask yourself, would you consider running it? 190 miles in just under 88 hours? My answer would definitely still be no.
Evening League Presentation
On 11th September Roy Hollingworth from the Evening League visited the rugby club to present Ripon Runners with the awards from this year’s series.
Alex Fawcett and Lenny Lennox both won their age categories and Club Captains, Andy Purll and Kelly Dunkley, received the team runners up prize on behalf of the club.
