Ripon Runners was founded in 1984 as road running began its extraordinary ascendancy from the sport of eccentrics to probably Britain’s most participated in athletic activity. Our president, Monty Munson, now in his 80’s and still running, was one of our founder members as was Rodney Mills who in his seventies has found new fame as Britain’s over 70 indoor champion at 400 metres.

A number of club members completed the Tadcaster 10 mile race. Running for the second time after the floods and following the bridge re-opening, this flat road race, passes over the bridge twice and also includes some local road running, while dodging the rain that fell elsewhere. Number one for Ripon was Joe Lofthouse in a terrific time...
Angie's Stanage Struggle
Angie Benson, who has run every day for over 1000 consecutive days, decided running 1400ft up the Stanage Struggle in Derbyshire would be good fun, and proved her confidence with a smashing time of 1 hr 5 mins.
Inaugural Worcester Half
Chris Cooper travelled to Worcester to take part in the inaugural Worcester half marathon. With over 1000 runners, starting and finishing at Worcester racecourse, the ever enthusiastic Chris finished in a time of 2 hrs 51 mins.

Paul's Bob Graham Round
At 22:00 on Saturday evening I set off from Moot Hall in Keswick on the first leg of the BGR aiming for a 22 Hour round, my running support for this leg freshly back from Holiday the night before was Alex Fawcett.
Coast to Coast Run
This October 2016, Claire Baker and Matt Holt ran the Coast to Coast over 5 days which is about 40 off-road miles daily.
Ripon Runners in the Local Community
At our recent AGM in March, and as we have done for the last few years, club members nominated local charities and then voted on which three charities the club should make a donation of £750.00 to (£250 each).
